Owen Hargreaves has praised Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher on Premier League Productions.

The former Manchester United and Manchester City midfielder was impressed by Kelleher’s reaction full-time after the Champions League game between Liverpool and Ajax at Anfield on Tuesday night.

The 22-year-old goalkeeper started the match, his first in Europe’s top club competition.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international did well as the defending Premier League champions booked their place in the knockout stage of the Champions League.

Kelleher could be a starter for Liverpool against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League this weekend, and before the game, Hargreaves has raved about him.

The former England international midfielder has pointed out what the 22-year-old full-time player did that was very encouraging.

Hargreaves said about Kelleher at Premier League Productions: “What I liked after the game, Jurgen Klopp came up to him to hug him because obviously it was a great moment for him, and how calm he was. He didn’t celebrate too much. “

The former midfielder added: “It seems sensible. I think they have a good one there, Liverpool.

Rising Star

Kelleher, who plays ahead of Adrian in a big Champions League game in the middle of the week, underscores how much Klopp rates him.

The youngster showed his maturity against Ajax, and his calm will help Liverpool against Wolves in this weekend’s Premier League game.

Alisson, who is injured at the moment, is Liverpool’s starting goalkeeper, but the Reds could have a long-term successor to the Brazilian in Kelleher.
