The forward looked ready to leave Stamford Bridge when the transfer window opens in January after finding hard-to-come-by opportunities with the first team.
But Giroud has seen his playing time increase recently and the veteran forward compensated Lampard with five goals in eight days, including all four in Chelsea’s win in Seville on Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, Giroud has revealed his original decision to consider a withdrawal from Chelsea stemming from talks with French manager Didier Deschamps.
“We had a conversation and he said that if the situation continued like this, you would have to make a decision in January,” Giroud said. “But now I am a happy and proud man to be a Chelsea player.”
