The viral photo showing Top Glove workers climbing the fence around their bedroom is causing concern among people in the area.

SHAH ALAM: Selangor Police called for calm tonight following reports that Top Glove workers had scaled a bedroom fence that is currently under the Enhanced Movement Control (EMCO) order.

Selangor Police Covid-19 spokesman Muhammad Yazid Muhammad Yew said it was not a problem, Bernama reported.

He added that the workers had simply gone shopping for basic necessities at a makeshift grocery store located within the town under the EMCO.

“The incident is not a problem because the grocery store is within the EMCO area,” was quoted by the national news agency.

Yazid also said that the Klang City Council had also taken action against the grocery store owner for operating without a license.

He continued to urge the public not to panic over the incident, as security in the EMCO area was still under control.

The EMCO in the Top Glove workers’ dormitory, first announced on November 17, has been extended until December 14 following an increase in Covid-19 cases involving the Teratai group.

In another matter, Yazid also confirmed that police received a report from Top Glove yesterday about a viral video that allegedly showed authorities assaulting a company worker.

“The case is still being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code,” he said.
