Covid-19: 111 Quarantined After Johor Police Inspector Tested Positive

ISKANDAR PUTERI: A total of 111 people, including 36 policemen and 71 policemen from the Iskandar Puteri District Police Headquarters, were quarantined after a police inspector tested positive for Covid-19.

Johor Police Chief Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm Dzulkhairi Mukhtar was absent during a launch event here on Wednesday (December 2), as the latter was in quarantine.

“There has been a case of Covid-19 infection at the Iskandar Puteri District Police Headquarters that involved an inspector after he came into contact with a person who tested positive for Covid-19.

“As a security measure and based on the suggestion of the Ministry of Health, we have ordered that 36 officers, 71 staff members, one public official and three family members be quarantined from November 30 until the results of the the hyssop tests, ”he said during a press conference after the launch ceremony of the Crime Awareness in Children and Adolescents Module (Mekar) here.

He added that officers and staff from Johor Police Contingent Headquarters were also ordered to replace those ordered to self-quarantine.

“This is to ensure that our police work continues as usual to monitor public safety,” he said.
