PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Health is considering instructing its medical staff and public health workers in Sabah to return and assist in the management of Covid-19 in their respective states, said Director General of Health Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah.
“There have been requests for Selangor and Negeri Sembilan staff who are working in Sabah to return.
“The ministry sees the declining trend in cases in Sabah and we may consider instructing them to return to their own states to assist with case detection and risk assessment,” he said today.
Noor Hisham added that so far, 59 medical personnel and 57 public health workers had mobilized to conduct examinations in high-risk areas within Selangor.
Another 64 public health workers were also sent to Selangor from other states on the peninsula, he said.
Noting the high number of daily infections in Selangor, Noor Hisham highlighted that these are mainly concentrated in specific localities.
He also said that the Teratai group virus involving factory workers in Meru, Klang, had now spread to the community.
“When one (of the workers) is infected, they bring the virus home and infect their family members. There are now 150 positive cases in the community, most of which are Malaysian. “
The Teratai group today registered 27 new infections, bringing the total number of cases in this group to 5,083.
