Seller claims lawsuit for driving under the influence of alcohol, causing death of factory operator

KAJANG (Bernama): A vendor pleaded not guilty in Magistrates Court here on Monday (November 30) to a charge of driving under the influence and causing the death of a factory operator on the Kajang-Seremban Expressway (LEKAS ) on Friday (November 27).

Defendant Hoi Yew Seng, 41, pleaded guilty after a court interpreter read the charges against him before Magistrate Syahrul Sazly Md Sain.

According to the charge, Hoi was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol, resulting in the death of factory operator Nelzin Didal Mat Lazim, 44, who was driving a motorcycle, at KM3.8 LEKAS, Hulu Langat, at 11.35 a.m. Friday.

The man was charged under Section 44 (1) (b) of the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333/87) which establishes a maximum prison sentence of 15 years and a fine of RM 50,000 with disqualification. driver’s license for a period of 10 years.

Earlier, Hoi, who was in the dock, only bowed his head during the proceedings that began around 10.30 a.m. M.

Deputy Prosecutor Muhammad Hairul Iqram Hairuddin appeared for the indictment, while attorney Tan Teck Yew represented Hoi.

The court granted the defendant a bond of RM12,000 with a bond with the additional condition that the defendant must surrender his passport to the court until the case is resolved.
