PETALING JAYA: The upgraded MCO at Top Glove workers’ dormitories in Meru, Klang, will be extended for another 14 days, says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said the extension will run from Tuesday (December 1) through December 14. The dormitories had initially been placed under an upgraded MCO from November 17-30.

Ismail said a total of 5,805 tests had been performed on workers at the rubber glove manufacturer, with 3,406 positive results for Covid-19.

He said that the risk assessment conducted by the Health Ministry found that there was still a high rate of positive cases in the area.

He added that those who tested negative in the Teratai group still posed a risk and that a second test would be performed.

“All workers will have to undergo tests in private clinics while being monitored by the Klang health department,” he said.

Ismail, also a defense minister, added that non-Malaysians who tested negative would be placed in a quarantine station, while Malaysians would have to self-quarantine at home, with a Home Surveillance Order (HSO) for 14 days. .

Non-citizens who test positive for the disease will be placed in a Low Risk Treatment and Quarantine Center (PKRC), while Malaysians who test positive will be placed in Ministry of Health hospitals.

“Workers who are in quarantine cannot return to work until a repeat test is negative and they are discharged from HSO,” he said.

He added that the Klang health department would have to be notified of any movement of PKRC workers.

Ismail also said that employers will bear the cost of testing, installing and operating the PKRC, food and transportation.

He added that workers will only be allowed to return to work once they are discharged from the HSO or those who test positive have received authorization to do so.

“There were a lot of people saying that the Ministry of Health was working with Top Glove to allow the testers to work normally. This is not true …

“The public need not worry. They are not authorized to be in the community, ”he said.
