Two foreign workers seriously injured after a concrete wall collapsed on them

BATU KAWAN (Bernama): Two Bangladeshi workers were seriously injured after a concrete wall collapsed on them while undergoing renovation work in the lobby of a private university in Bandar Cassia here on Sunday (November 29).

Penang Fire and Rescue Department Operations Officer Azmi Tahar said one of the victims, Moshak, 42, suffered severe facial injuries and his right palm was crushed, while his co-worker Mannan Abdul of 40 years old, he was seriously injured in the legs and abdomen.

“We were alerted to the incident around 5pm and upon arrival at the scene, we found the two men trapped under the rubble. We had to remove the concrete pile before the victims could be rescued,” he said Sunday.

Azmi said the duo were seriously injured and were rushed to Seberang Jaya Hospital for further treatment.

According to preliminary inquiries, the two workers were in the middle of tearing down the wall when it gave way and collapsed on them.

“Previously, several other workers tried to remove them, but the concrete pieces were too heavy,” he added. – Bernama
