Roy Keane has attacked David de Gea once again after the Manchester United goalkeeper responded to comments from experts for his ‘disrespectful’ criticism of him in recent months.
The Spaniard’s form over the past year has dropped from performances that saw many label him the best blocker on the planet, with unusual mistakes leading to criticism from some corners.
And former United captain Keane is one of those experts who has told De Gea in the past, and his criticism of the Red Devils goalkeeper in a 1-1 draw with Spurs last season drew headlines.

But the Irishman has not backed down from his war of words with the Spanish goalkeeper, underlining that De Gea’s mega contract should lead to criticism when he makes mistakes.
De Gea was withdrawn at halftime of United’s game with Southampton on Sunday due to injury with the Red Devils down 2-0 at the time.
‘I have to say that I’m not his biggest fan yet. It doesn’t do enough for me, ” Keane told Sky Sports.
“He has a very important contract and has made big mistakes that have cost United many points.
“ Obviously he’s played behind four really poor backs at times. It’s your job. He has a really important contract. That is what you are supposed to do.
De Gea said some expert comments on his performances were ‘disrespectful’
“When people say he’s a good blocker, that’s his job. He talked about his time at the club, well he needs to be more consistent.
‘When you make a mistake, you will be criticized.
“I think some of the mistakes have been unacceptable. I don’t think I’m being too harsh. The games that I’ve covered on TV and that I’ve been watching, he’s made too many mistakes. ‘
De Gea had commented on the unfair criticism that he feels from experts and former professionals, calling the comments “disrespectful.”
But Keane said de Gea’s lucrative contract means criticism of him is justified.
‘It’s just the way they (experts, former players) say things, the headlines. It’s disrespectful, ” he told Sky Sports. ‘It’s something the players don’t like. We’re having ups and downs for a long time. ‘
“For me, one of the most important things is the mind. Be strong, be smart, be ready. Playing every game for this club is difficult, there is a lot of pressure. You have to be very focused and very strong in mind. ‘
