SHAH ALAM: A television character, who was arrested for allegedly raping a 23-year-old woman, has been in preventive detention for five days.

Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Baharudin Mat Taib said the 25-year-old suspect is in pre-trial detention until December 1.

“He has been in preventive detention for five days from today until Tuesday (December 1).

“We are investigating the matter further,” he said when contacted on Friday (November 27).

The suspect was taken to the Shah Alam judicial complex at around 9.45am on Friday.

The suspect, who is also a former reality TV contestant, was arrested for the alleged rape on Thursday (Nov 26).

ACP Baharudin said the victim met the suspect through Instagram and dated him around 8 p.m. on September 11 last year, under the pretext of helping her with depression.

“The suspect had taken the victim to a restaurant on Batu 3, Shah Alam, and then to her home on Seksyen 7 here to allegedly give a more detailed explanation on how to ‘cure’ her depression.

“While there, the victim claimed she was raped by the suspect. The next day, at 6.40 am, the suspect warned the victim to keep the assault a secret,” he said in a statement.

The suspect then escorted her to the lobby before putting her on an electronic call service so she could return to her rented house in Subang Jaya, ACP Baharudin said.

“The victim had been admitted to Kajang Hospital on September 23 last year after suffering emotional distress. He also received psychiatric treatment.

“She also returned to her hometown in Pahang the following month and was subsequently kept in a hospital in Temerloh for five days.

“She is still going to receive follow-up treatments at the hospital there,” he added.

The victim submitted a police report on the alleged rape on November 25.
