KUALA LUMPUR: The Foreign Ministry is ready to help bring Low Teak Jho or Jho Low back to this country if their location has been identified, said their minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein (pix).

Member of Parliament Sembrong said there was no reason for the ministry not to do so if the police informed it of the location of the fugitive businessman.

So far, he said that Jho Low’s whereabouts, including the possibility that he is in China, could not be determined, as stated by RSN Rayer (PH-Jelutong) when bringing his liquidation speech of the Supply Bill 2021 in Dewan Rakyat today .

“First of all, we don’t know whether or not it is in China. Second, if the police have informed Wisma Putra of his exact location, there is no reason why Wisma Putra cannot help bring him back to be brought to justice, ”he said.

Responding to a question from Khoo Poay Tiong (PH-Kota Melaka) about allegations that Malaysian students were not allowed to return to their campuses in China even though the learning session had started, Hishammuddin said the issue was will discuss with the Ministry of Higher Education.

“For our part, we will continue to communicate and discuss with China on issues related to these students,” he said.

Meanwhile, on Rohingya refugees and UNHCR cardholders in the country, Hishammuddin reiterated that efforts to repatriate or relocate them to a third country remained Wisma Putra’s top priority.

“We will continue to give priority through the ASEAN platform for Myanmar to implement the suggestions together with UNHCR because previously, we accepted these refugees with the UNHCR guarantee that they will be resettled in third countries.

“We will use various platforms such as the bilateral with Bangladesh and Myanmar, the regional with ASEAN, the multilateral with the United Nations and countries that share the same position with us like Indonesia to find the solution to the Rohingya problems,” he said.

Addressing the issue of Covid-19, Hishammuddin expressed his gratitude to the staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and all the leaders who have worked hard to rid the country of the pandemic.

He said that during the peak of the pandemic, the Foreign Ministry managed to bring 26,870 Malaysians back to this country as a result of the efforts and hard work of some 300 leaders in Wisma Putra and representatives of Malaysia around the world. – Called
