KUALA LUMPUR: A motion has been made to reduce the RM85.5mil allocated to the controversial Department of Special Affairs (Services) in the 2021 Budget, according to Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz.

However, he said more details about the reduction in the allocation will be announced during the committee’s stage of the Budget 2021 deliberations that begin next week.

“I have made a motion to reduce the allocation awarded to Jasa. We will announce it at the committee stage, ”Zafrul said in his closing speech on Budget 2021 in Parliament on Thursday (November 26).

He was responding to Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir (IND-Jerlun), who asked if there was any reduction in allocations in some areas following the increase in allocations for other segments of the Budget 2021.

Under the 2021 Budget, Jasa received RM4 thousand for “strategic communications” under the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia and RM81.5 thousand for “new policies”.
