EMCO in Mukim Sungai Seluang, Kulim from November 27

KUALA LUMPUR: The Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) will be implemented in various housing estates in Mukim Sungai Seluang in Kulim, Kedah from Friday, Chief Minister (Security Group) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said.

He said the EMCO would affect 6,000 residents of 1,412 houses in Taman Bayam, Taman Bayam Indah, Taman Kangkong 1, Taman Kangkong 2, Taman Halia, Taman Cekur Manis, Taman Kobis, Taman Sawi and Taman Seri Limau.

“The Ministry of Health (MOH) has carried out 197 selective examinations and 50 positive cases of Covid-19 have been registered in this town.

“According to the risk assessment and the advice of the Ministry of Health, the EMCO will be applied in this locality for 14 days from November 27 to December 10,” he said at a press conference on the updates to the Control Order. Recovery Movement (RMCO) here today.

He said that with the EMCO application, all residents must adhere to established standard operating procedure (SOP), which includes prohibiting them from leaving the area except in cases of emergency and the closure of schools, mosques and other places of worship.

Ismail Sabri also announced the imposition of EMCO in Taman Telipok Ria, Tuaran, Sabah from November 27 to December 10, saying that 253 positive cases of Covid-19 have been recorded there, while the results of 581 samples are still pending.

EMCO will involve 18,000 residents in 3,400 houses, he added.

After this, he said, the police, the armed forces, civil defense personnel, members of the volunteer corps and local authorities would be monitoring these localities to ensure compliance with the EMCO and SOP to stop Covid-19.

He said that the EMCO in Kampung Pengaraban, Kampung Tanjung Kapor and Kampung Landung Ayang in Kudat, Sabah would end tomorrow as scheduled.

“The MOH risk assessment found that the Covid-19 situation in these localities shows a downward trend and is under control. Of the 3,084 screening tests performed, 345 positive cases of Covid-19 were recorded, ”he said, adding that residents are still subject to SOP according to the RMCO.

It also said that the 312 people arrested yesterday for violating RMCO’s SOP had received compound fines.
