970 new cases, mostly from Negeri Sembilan

COVID-19 | The Ministry of Health reported 970 new cases of Covid-19 and four deaths throughout the country today.

Most of the new cases were reported in Negeri Sembilan (32.8 percent of new cases), followed by Sabah (30.2 percent) and Selangor (11.9 percent).

In Negeri Sembilan, almost all new cases (94.7 percent) were from the Bakti group, which involves a prison.

Main indicators:

  • Active cases: 12,971 ↓ (1,382 less than the previous day)
  • Patients in intensive care: 110 ↓ (2 less than the previous day)
  • Intubated patients: 47 ↓ (2 less than the previous day)
  • Deaths: 4

Two of the four new deaths were in Sabah. The cumulative number of Covid-19 deaths for Sabah is 199, or 57.1 percent of the national total (345).

The details of the four victims, all women, are as follows:

‘Patient 42.004’ – Malaysian woman, 73 years old, died in Penang Hospital.

‘Patient 56,682’ – Malaysian woman, 68 years old, passed away at Duchess of Kent Hospital in Sandakan, Sabah.

‘Patient 56,891’ – Malay woman, 54, also died at Duchess of Kent Hospital in Sandakan, Sabah and;

‘Patient 58.707’ – Foreign woman, 77 years old, died in Labuan Hospital without comorbidity.

Perlis was the only territory that did not report new cases. A breakdown of the new cases is as follows:

As of yesterday, the country’s laboratories had the capacity to carry out 59,485 RT-PCR tests, of which 24,386 were carried out (41 percent of the capacity).

In Sabah, there are four laboratories capable of performing a total of 2,750 tests daily. 2,312 tests were processed yesterday.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health today classified five new clusters.

The D’Bajaru cluster has 90 cases involving the Lahad Datu Sabah district. The index case was identified during part of a selective evaluation of two villages.

The Gangsa cluster has 30 cases involving the Kuala Langat Selangor district. The index case was identified during the workplace assessment. Only one case involves a Malaysian citizen.

The Batu Tujuk cluster has 144 cases involving Stone chisel Y Johor bahru Johor districts. The index case suffered a severe acute respiratory infection and tested positive for Covid-19 on November 22.

Tanjung Bunga’s group has 11 cases related to the Johor Bahru district in Johor. The index case suffered a severe acute respiratory infection and tested positive for Covid-19 on November 21.

Kerengge’s group has six cases involving Marang Terengganu district. The index case reported symptoms and tested positive on November 17.
