KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of the Interior (KDN) and the Ministry of Human Resources (KSM) should establish an integrated system for the management and control of the recruitment of foreign workers to ensure the continuity of data between ministries and departments.

The Chairman of the Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Wong Kah Woh (pix) said that the matter was among the recommendations that were presented to the government, in addition to the fact that the proposal for the two ministries to determine the requests for quotas of foreign workers were made through the ePPAx and MyIMMs systems where the results were given in a reasonable time.

The recommendations were made after the PAC presented its report on enforcement activities against foreign workers under KDN and KSM in Dewan Rakyat today.

The committee was of the opinion that there should be no “intermediaries” in the request for foreign worker quotas to the Interior Minister, proposing investigations by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on the matter, Wong said in a statement.

Other recommendations include that exemptions should not be granted for the hiring of foreign workers in the freezing subsector and that the Royal Malaysian Police should expedite the investigation of allegations of theft and misuse of user ID in the MyIMM system.

The PAC also suggested that the Medical Examination for Foreign Workers (Fomema) be carried out within 30 days after the arrival of foreign workers, and severe action should be taken against employers who do not comply with the rule.

Wong said that KDN, through the Department of Immigration, should continue with the implementation of the pilot project Alternative to Detention for unaccompanied and separated children, which was initially planned to be implemented last April.

He said that the KDN should also work with the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development for the placement of women and children from detention warehouses to centers supervised by the Council to Combat Trafficking in Persons and Against Illicit Trafficking. of Migrants (MAPO).

“KDN should renegotiate with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) on the registration of detainees with refugee status in immigration depots throughout the country,” he said. – Called
