KOTA KINABALU: Sabahans now only have to prove negative on a Covid-19 swab test taken within three days and no longer have to undergo a 14-day quarantine before they are allowed to travel to other states of Malaysia.
Sabah’s Minister of Housing and Local Government Datuk Masidi Manjun said this would take effect from Wednesday (November 25).
“As of November 25, travelers from Sabah are only required to undergo a Covid-19 smear test three days before departing for other states in Malaysia.
“If the individual tests positive for the virus or has symptoms, they will not be allowed to continue their journey.
“Those who test positive will be referred to the hospital for isolation and treatment, while those who experience symptoms will be referred for further monitoring.
“If the individual has no symptoms and the laboratory results are negative, the traveler no longer needs to undergo a 14-day quarantine,” Masidi said in a statement on Tuesday (November 24).
It added that the Covid-19 swab test report would be inspected and the use of the MySejahtera app is required when arriving at the entry gates in Peninsular Malaysia, Sarawak and Labuan.
