‘The success of the balance approach depends on the employers’

Noor Hisham said the recent increase in the Klang Valley was largely due to groups related to workplaces.

To date, he said there have been 119 workplace-related groups and 83 of them are still active.

The workplaces groups with the highest number of Covid-19 cases are the Teratai group (4,036 cases) and the Damanlela group (1,539) in the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor area.

The Cergas group (1,337 cases) includes Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Kelantan.

“During this third wave of the pandemic, the government is aware of the need to balance life and livelihood.

“Therefore, the approach was taken to invoke conditional motion control order (MCO) and targeted enhanced MCO in certain areas, considering both health and economics.

“However, the success of this strategy requires strong cooperation from employers to ensure that their workers always comply with the standard operating procedure (SOP) established by the authorities,” he added.

As such, he urged employers, particularly those who hire large numbers of foreign workers, to ensure a conducive living environment for them so that it is possible to comply with SOPs against Covid-19.

“The Ministry of Health urges employers to play their important role in helping to combat Covid-19.”
