KUALA LUMPUR: Vehicles traveling within the travel bubbles of the national green zone will be able to carry the total number of passengers allowed, said Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.

He said this applies to private vehicles and tour buses that travel in green areas.

“Families can travel within the green zones because there are no worries while traveling from the green zone to the green,” he said today at a press conference in Parliament.

He said that those who travel between green areas without going through yellow, orange or red areas are exempt from requesting police permission to travel.

He added that those who have to travel through non-green areas must obtain permission.

She said the permit can also be requested by mass travel agents, but only by those registered with the ministry.

Nancy said the easing of travel restrictions is part of the Stimulus Recovery Plan (SRP) to revitalize the tourism sector affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The SRP has three main objectives, firstly restoring confidence in travel, reviving national tourism and maximizing resources.

“The ministry will work with airlines, tourism-related agencies, the Malaysian Hotel Association (MAH) and the Malaysia Budget Hotel Association (MyBHA) to ensure that the SRP meets its objectives,” he said.

Nancy said that those who take this opportunity to travel should do so responsibly.

He said travelers must adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and new regulations while traveling.

She said travel agents also have a role to play in ensuring that those traveling with their packages are Covid-19 free.
