KULAI: Two Singaporeans flying a small plane made an emergency landing at KM47 of the North-South Highway near here on Sunday (November 22) morning.

Renggam Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Asyraf Nur Mohd Yusof said the incident took place around 11.13 am in the emergency lane heading towards Kulai.

“The aircraft is believed to have experienced an engine failure that led to the emergency landing. The pilot and co-pilot were unharmed in the incident, ”he said.

He added that his team was on standby at the scene for further assistance and said pilots and aircraft were also awaiting necessary actions from Senai International Airport in Johor Baru.

Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) said its air traffic control tower in Johor received a call at 10.40 am from the pilot requesting to return and land at Senai International Airport due to technical problems.

“The private jet operated by Premier Air Singapore was en route from Senai to Melaka,” said CAAM Chief Executive Captain Chester Voo.

“The investigation (of the incident) will be in charge of the Office of Investigation of Air Accidents of the Ministry of Transport,” he added.
