957 new cases versus 972 recoveries

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 957 new cases of Covid-19 today, surpassing the 900 mark once again after almost a week.

However, recoveries were also high, with 972 Covid-19 patients discharged. This means that there is still an overall reduction in active Covid-19 cases.

Cumulative Covid-19 cases now amount to 32,505 cases, while cumulative recoveries are now 22,220 cases.

Leading indicators in brief:

  • Active cases = 10,051 ↓ (15 less than the previous day)
  • Patients in intensive care = 97 ↑ (14 more than the previous day)
  • Intubated patients = 27 ↑ (8 more than the previous day)
  • Deaths = 0 (unchanged, the death toll remains at 249)

Most of the cases or 67.3 percent were in Sabah and another 24 percent of the cases were in the Klang Valley.

A significant contribution to the Klang Valley cases came from the Enhanced Motion Control (MCO) order in Hentian Plaza, Kajang, which contributed 91 new cases.

A total of two new clusters were reported today. They are the Usaha Cluster involving the Petaling and Klang districts in Selangor and the Copper cluster involving the northeast and southwest districts of Penang.

Usaha’s group started with patient 30,697 who was discovered through symptomatic patient screening on October 30.

A review of the patient’s close contacts found another 16 cases. Three more are still awaiting results. All have been admitted to Sungai Buloh Hospital.

Meanwhile, Tembaga’s group was traced to patient 29,359 through an evaluation of patients with severe acute respiratory infections (SARI) on October 28.

Subsequent examination of the patient’s close contacts found six other cases. 49 people are still waiting for their results.
