KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 95,161 applicants across the country managed to get jobs through the MYFutureJobs job portal, said Vice Minister of Human Resources Awang Hashim.
He said that of the total, 44,940 applications were between the ages of 20 and 29, including graduates.
“To make it easier for graduates to find employment, the government ordered the Socso (Social Security Organization) to celebrate the Penjana Career Carnivals.
“As of October 30, 2020, 229 Penjana Professional Carnivals involving 541 employers have successfully placed 4,060 graduates and other job seekers,” he said in answering a question from Datuk Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (PH -Pandan) in Dewan Rakyat.
Dr. Wan Azizah wanted to know the measures and actions of the government to address the problem of employment opportunities for recent graduates, as well as for workers who were laid off due to the economic recession this year.
Commenting further, Awang said the government is considering various job opportunities that could be created to offer to recent graduates and workers who were laid off due to the economic crisis and the Covid-19 pandemic.
He said various programs and initiatives are underway to enhance the national youth workforce ecosystem and the development of the marketability program.
According to him, among the initiatives and programs implemented are the Structured Internship Program (SIP), Nurturing Talent Expert (NEXT), Attraction and Retention of Talent Scholarship (STAR) and Young Employable Students (YES!).
Apart from that, two sessions of the Industry-Academy Collaboration (IAC) were held between Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) (Medical Industry) and Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) (General Study), as well as the National Training System Dual (NDTS), Incentive program for hiring, mobility aids and training programs of the National Plan for Economic Recovery (Penjana). – Called
