9 new Covid-19 clusters detected in 8 states

Four of the clusters were detected in Sabah and close contact testing is underway.

PETALING JAYA: Nine new Covid-19 clusters have been detected in eight states during the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health reported today.

In a statement, Chief Health Officer Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said four groups were detected in Sabah. These are the Titir, Omadal, Bandaran and Jambul groups.

The remaining five groups are the Bayan group (Penang), the Mentari group (Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and KL), the Jernih group (Negeri Sembilan), the Seladah group (Sarawak) and the Makekar group (Johor, Terengganu and Selangor)

Titir’s group, detected in Keningau, Sabah, involves one patient who tested positive on October 18, and 12 others tested positive after examination.

The Omadal group, detected in Semporna, Sabah, started with one patient who tested positive on October 18, another 21 tested positive and 167 tested negative.

Bandaran’s group, detected in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, first involved a patient who tested positive on October 15, and another 12 were found to be infected after the evaluation of 41 people.

Jambul’s group, detected in Sandakan, Sabah, involved one patient who tested positive on October 9, and another 8 tested positive after testing, 20 tested negative, and two more awaiting results.

Bayan’s group, detected in Penang, involves a patient who tested positive on October 21 and six others among the 216 people who have been tested; 150 of them are waiting for results.

The Mentari group, detected in Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and KL, involved for the first time a patient who tested positive on October 22 and another 17 among 93 people who were evaluated; 66 of them are waiting for the test results.

The Jernih group, detected in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan first involved two people tested before leaving the country and was confirmed positive on October 22; Another 15 tested positive among the 76 people tested and 61 awaiting results.

Seladah’s group, detected in Kuching and Serian, Sarawak, involves a patient who tested positive on October 22 and 7 others among the 18 people tested; another seven are waiting for results.

Makekar’s group, detected in Johor, Selangor and Terengganu, first involved a person who was tested at the workplace and tested positive on October 18. Another ten tested positive among 132 people tested and 16 more awaiting results.
