847 new cases of Covid-19, only five imported (updated)

PETALING JAYA: The number of new cases of Covid-19 increases today with 847 registered in the country, bringing the total number of active cases to 8,183. The national tally is now 23,804.

Health Director General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that 842 of today’s cases came from local broadcasts, while five were imported cases.

A total of 486 patients were discharged today, bringing the total number of recoveries to 15,417.

“There are currently 90 patients who are being treated in intensive care units (ICU), and 29 of them require ventilation,” said Noor Hisham.

Five new deaths were reported, bringing the death toll to 204.

Four deaths were reported in Sabah and one in Kedah. A 65-year-old woman died at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kota Kinabalu, a 78-year-old man with a history of stroke died at Tuaran Hospital, an 88-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman who died at Duchess of Kent Hospital in Sandakan, and a 67-year-old woman who died at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital, Kedah.

Six new clusters were detected in Sandakan, Kota Kinabalu and Papar (Sabah), Miri (Sarawak), Hulu Langat (Selangor), Seremban (Negeri Sembilan), Titiwangsa and Lembah Pantai (Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur) and Alccaor Gajah (Malaccaor Gajah).

The groups were known as Tinusa group (Sandakan), Sauh group (Kota Kinabalu, Papar and Miri), Jambu group (Hulu Langat), Sofi group (Seremban), Bah Mutiara group (Hulu Langat, Titiwangsa and Lembah Pantai) and Umboo group (Alor Gajah).

A total of 586 individuals were evaluated from the Tinusa conglomerate with 33 positive cases, 486 negative cases and 67 still pending.

Sauh’s group recorded a total of 149 people who had undergone screening as of October 22 with 17 positive cases and 132 negative cases.

A total of 139 people from the Jambu group were examined with 15 positive cases and 124 still pending.

The Sofi group registered a total of 160 people who had undergone screening tests as of October 22 with 34 positive cases, 11 negative cases and 115 still pending results.

A total of 96 individuals from the Bah Mutiara group were examined, 10 registered as positive cases and 86 still pending.

The Umboo group registered 373 people undergoing screening with four positive cases detected, 218 negative cases and 151 still pending.
