84 arrested for mocking RMCO

PETALING JAYA: Police arrested a total of 84 criminals yesterday for disobeying the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).

Chief Minister (Defense) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said in a press release today that 76 were detained and eight were released on police bail.

“Of the 84, 28 did not provide customers with the log books or QR code to check in, 22 people did not wear face masks, 14 disobeyed standard operating procedures (SOPs) involved in collection activities without social distancing and 20 participated in nightclub or pub activities, ”he said.

As of yesterday (September 3), he said that the police had checked a total of 56,201 locations to make sure they are following SOPs.

These included 4,801 restaurants, 3,804 supermarkets, and 849 government offices.

Apart from that, a total of 108 illegal immigrants and a suspected smuggler were arrested yesterday during the operations against the illegals.

Regarding returnees, he said that a total of 27,101 people had returned to the country and that to date 69 had been sent to the hospital after testing positive for Covid-19, while 10,097 are in the mandatory quarantine period of 14 days at designated centers.

To date, a total of 16,935 people have been allowed to return home after undergoing the mandatory 14-day quarantine.

Ismail Sabri also revealed that authorities found that five of the six inspected construction sites did not meet RMCO’s SOPs, while another was not operational.
