PETALING JAYA: The Ministry of Health reported today 82 new cases of Covid-19 in the country, while 89 have been discharged.
This brings the total number of cases to 10,769 and recoveries to 9,785.
Of the new cases, 79 were local transmissions and three imported cases.
The death toll remains at 133.
In a statement, Chief Health Officer Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said the 79 local infections involved 53 Malaysians and 26 foreigners.
A total of 64 new cases were detected in Sabah, 33 from the Benteng group and 25 from the Bangau-Bangau group.
There were 851 active cases, eight of which were treated in the intensive care unit (ICU), four of which required respiratory assistance.
With the new cases detected in the Benteng cluster, the number of infections from there amounts to 776 cases, 337 of them foreign.
“As of noon today, 10,775 people from this group have been screened,” said Noor Hisham.
Meanwhile, the total number of cases for the Bangau-Bangau group has increased to 159, of which 155 are still awaiting test results.
