8 new Covid-19 clusters involving 6 states, 2 federal territories

Three of the new clusters were detected in Sabah.

PETALING JAYA: The Ministry of Health has detected eight new Covid-19 clusters in the country during the last 24 hours.

Health Director General Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said it is the Sabaru, Tomher and Garden groups in Sabah; Putra-18 group involving Putrajaya and Selangor; Pure cluster involving Selangor and Kuala Lumpur; The Seri Pasir group in Penang; Besi Demak’s group in Sarawak; and the Parit Kassan group involving Johor and Melaka.

Sabaru’s group, detected in Lahad Datu, first involved an individual who was examined after showing symptoms on November 13. Targeted community reviews found another 87 new cases.

A total of 1,627 people have been tested so far, 22 of whom have tested negative, while the remaining 1,517 people are awaiting the results.

Meanwhile, Tomher’s group detected in Ranau, Sabah involved construction workers who were screened as part of specific screenings for high-risk groups since November 9.

As of noon today, 276 people from the area have been tested, six of whom tested negative and the remaining 250 are still awaiting the results.

The index case for the Garden group, located in Tawau, Sabah, was an individual who tested positive through a screening test after showing symptoms on November 7. Close contact tests detected 10 more cases.

A total of 35 people have been tested so far, and 24 came back negative.

Meanwhile, the Putra-18 group involves Putrajaya and the Petaling and Sepang districts in Selangor. It was detected after an individual was examined for symptoms on November 14.

After close contact evaluations, another six cases were identified. A total of 52 people have been tested, and 45 are still awaiting the results.

Murni’s group, which involves Cheras and Kepong districts in Kuala Lumpur and Petaling, Selangor was detected when the index case was for symptomatic individual examinations on November 15. Close-contact examinations found six other positive cases.

There are 17 people who have been tested, eight people tested negative and two waiting for their results.

The Seri Pasir group from Timur Laut, Penang, was detected after an individual was examined for symptoms on November 11. Another 10 people tested positive through close contact tests.

A total of 24 people have been tested, and 13 people await their results.

Meanwhile, the Besi Demak group from Kuching, Sarawak was detected after an individual was examined for symptoms on November 15. Close contact examinations identified four more positive cases.

A total of 237 people have been tested, 220 people tested negative and 12 are still awaiting the results.

The Parit Kassan group, involving the Tangkak district in Johor and the Melaka Tengah district in Melaka, was detected after the index case underwent symptomatic individual examinations on November 13. Close contact examinations reported 10 more positive cases.

Of the 105 people tested so far, 70 were negative and the remaining 24 are still awaiting their results.

Noor Hisham also announced that the Kencana, Bah Sintok and Seri Anggerik clusters officially ended today. No deaths were linked to the three groups.
