75 women out of 183 detained at KL entertainment center

The police operation took place in the busy Jalan Bukit Bintang in Kuala Lumpur.

KUALA LUMPUR: One hundred and eighty-three people, including 75 women, were arrested at an entertainment center in a shopping mall in Jalan Bukit Bintang here early this morning for disobeying regulations under the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).

They were arrested during “Ops Noda” by the Criminal Investigation Department of the city police at 12.50 am.

The music was blaring and the venue was congested, making physical distancing difficult when police arrived.

The deputy director of the city’s CID (Intelligence / Operations), Rohan Shah, said those arrested were between 21 and 40 years old.

He said police also arrested 12 employees of the entertainment outlet, including foreigners believed to be working without valid permits.

In the operation, which ended around 3 a.m., the police also seized equipment, including speakers, mobile phones and RM 2,000.

Rohan said the outlet was believed to be operating without a valid license.
