7,000 firefighters will receive the vaccine from March 5

PUTRAJAYA: A total of 7,000 firefighters, who are also at the forefront, have registered to receive the vaccine in the first phase of the National Covid-19 Immunization Program, said Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin.

She said the vaccination exercise will be carried out in stages starting this Friday, where she and the director general of the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Datuk Seri Muhammad Hamdan Wahid, will be among those who will receive the vaccine that day.

Zuraida, when meeting with reporters after launching National Landscape Day 2021, said there are 14,000 firefighters across the country.

With the theme ‘Protect yourself, protect everyone’, the National Immunization Program against Covid-19 that began on February 24 will be carried out in three phases, to ensure that at least 80 percent of Malaysian adults receive the vaccine. Covid-19 for February 2022.

Phase 1 from February to April is for more than 500,000 frontline people, while Phase 2 from April to August involves people over 65 years of age or older, high-risk groups with morbidity problems and the disabled that involve 9.4 millions of people.

Phase 3, from May to February 2022, is for all people over 18 years of age, including foreigners, and is aimed at more than 13.7 million people.

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Tan Sri Health Director General Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah and several other avant-garde leaders were the first to receive the vaccine on February 24.
