PETALING JAYA: The number of people arrested for violating Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) rose to a high of 680 yesterday, with the top offenders (146) being those who failed to physically distance themselves.
Other offenders included those who still attempted to cross district and state borders (117), followed by nightclub activities (106), not wearing masks (86), failing to prepare equipment to record temperature (64), going out from home without valid reason (36), transporting additional passengers (25), operating beyond the stipulated hours (23) and others (77).
Chief Defense Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, in a statement also said that 21 illegal immigrants were arrested and 10 vehicles were seized.
“A total of 9,138 foreign workers were tested yesterday for Covid-19, and of those 120 tested positive,” he said.
The Ministry of Human Resources confirmed that 362,067 foreign workers, of whom 16,520 employers, had undergone examinations to date.
Of this total, 7,016 tested positive while 355, 051 tested negative.
Ismail Sabri also confirmed that two locations in the Rehabilitation and Personnel Units in Batu Gajah, Kinta in Perak and several villagers in Besut Terengganu will be under the Enhanced Movement Control Order from February 14 to 27.
The compliance working group also conducted 68,835 checks yesterday at various restaurants, markets, banks, factories and government buildings.
In addition to that, 89 premises were sanitized in 41 areas.
Ismail Sabri also confirmed that food supplies are available.
