6 new Covid-19 suitcases | Malaysia free today

PETALING JAYA: The Ministry of Health reported six new Covid-19 infections today, bringing the total number of cases to 9,397.

The six positive cases include three imported cases and three local broadcasts, the Health Ministry said today in a tweet.

Today there were no new deaths, and the country’s death toll stood at 128, or 1.36% of all cases.

Two patients were discharged in the past 24 hours, Chief Health Officer Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a statement, with total recoveries to date of 9,115 (97% of all cases).

Noor Hisham said there are currently 154 active cases, six of which are being treated in intensive care units and three are in need of respiratory support.

While no new groups were reported today, Noor Hisham said there were two new positive cases in the Benteng Lahad Datu (LD) group in Sabah, bringing the total number of cases in the group to 16.

Both new cases are currently being treated at Tawau Hospital.

On Thursday, the Health Ministry reported that the group, which was originally detected among the prisoners at the Lahad Datu district police headquarters, had spread to Tawau prison 150 kilometers away.

A total of 420 people have been tested at Lahad Datu as of noon today, with seven tests testing positive, 259 testing negative and 154 people still awaiting their results.

In Tawau, meanwhile, a total of 356 people have been tested as of noon today, with nine tests testing positive, 67 testing negative and 280 people still awaiting their results.
