6 new Covid-19 clusters detected in 5 states

Patient close contact screening is underway in the identified groups across the country.

PETALING JAYA: Six new Covid-19 clusters have been detected in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health reported today.

In a statement, Chief Health Officer Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said these groups were known as Mesra and Megah in Sabah, Kaya in Negeri Sembilan, Bah Kayu in Selangor, Baki in Sarawak and Kempas in Johor.

The Mesra group, detected in Sandakan, first involved an individual with symptoms. The patient tested positive on October 7.

A total of 116 people have been tested, 22 of whom tested positive, two negative, and 92 awaiting test results.

The Megah group, also detected in Sandakan, first involved an individual examined after showing symptoms. The patient tested positive on October 5.

A total of 64 people have been screened, 15 of whom tested positive, 12 negative and 37 awaiting test results.

The Kaya group, detected in Negeri Sembilan and Putrajaya, first involved people examined at their workplace on October 24.

A total of 63 people have been examined, of whom 53 tested positive, six negative, and two awaiting test results.

The Bah Kayu detected in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur first involved an individual examined after returning from Sabah. The patient tested positive on October 13.

A total of 628 people have been examined, of whom 17 were positive, 591 negative, and 20 awaiting test results.

The Baki group, detected in Kuching, first involved an individual examined after showing symptoms. The patient tested positive on October 17.

A total of 68 people have been screened, five of whom tested positive, 34 negative, and 29 awaiting test results.

The Mesra group, detected in Johor, first involved an individual examined after showing symptoms. The patient tested positive on October 7.

A total of 206 people have been tested, eight of whom tested positive, 28 negative, and 170 awaiting test results.
