585 arrested for disobeying standard operating procedures

PETALING JAYAA total of 224 people who did not wear masks were among 585 people arrested across the country for violating standard operating procedures (SOPs) during the Covid-19 period.

Chief Minister (Defense) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that of that number, 569 people received the compound, 13 were in pretrial detention and three received police bail.

“A total of 199 people did not adhere to social distancing, 96 locals did not give customers the registration books or the QR code to register the entry while the remaining 66 had violated other SOPs,” he added.

On top of that, a total of 27 undocumented immigrants were detained and eight ground transportation vehicles were confiscated yesterday during Ops Benteng operations.

As for the returnees, he said a total of 53,659 people had returned to the country between July 24 and October 23.

To date, 381 people have been sent to the hospital for treatment, while 8,378 are going through the mandatory 14-day quarantine period at designated centers.

A total of 44,900 people were allowed to return home after undergoing the mandatory 14-day quarantine.

Ismail Sabri said that yesterday’s checks by the Malaysian Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) showed that out of 131 construction sites, 86 were in compliance with SOPs, while 45 sites were warned for non-compliance.
