577 arrested for violating SOP

PETALING JAYA: A total of 577 people were caught by police yesterday for violating the Recovery Motion Control Order (RMCO) regulations, Chief Minister (Defense) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said in a statement today.

“The arrests were the result of the police task force involving 2,737 squads and 13,387 members conducting 63,722 inspections against standard operating procedures (SOPs),” he said.

Of those detained, 522 were given enclosures and 55 were referred for further investigations.

“The crimes included not observing physical distancing (215), pub and disco activities (116), not wearing masks (113), not providing equipment for recording personal data (71), crossing district borders without authorization ( 53), and others (nine) ”, he added.

Ismail Sabri added that Ops Benteng security personnel arrested 49 undocumented immigrants and two suspected smugglers, in addition to seizing four ground vehicles.

A total of 278 barricades were also installed nationwide.
