Selangor Police Chief Noor Azam Jamaludin says it would take time to investigate the case, as the victims might be too embarrassed to come forward.

SHAH ALAM: The police have received five more reports in Shah Alam and Petaling Jaya related to allegations of rape involving a male celebrity from a religious TV show.

Selangor Police Chief Noor Azam Jamaludin confirmed this matter after receiving donations of masks and liquid disinfectant at the Selangor Police Headquarters here today.

“Investigations are still ongoing on the suspect and there may be more new reports after this.

“We urge everyone involved to come forward if they have been the victim of the suspect,” he said.

Noor Azam said the 25-year-old suspect was portrayed as a person of good character who used his image as a preacher to convince victims to approach him.

“He is described as a preacher who can calm people down and focuses more on religiosity. This is an attraction for them, ”he added.

When asked if the suspect used love spells, Noor Azam said that the police had not received any information on the matter.

“We will further investigate how they communicate and relate to each other, be it through Facebook or Instagram.”

Noor Azam said it would take time to investigate this case as victims might be embarrassed to come forward.

“They cannot be blamed. This matter involves their dignity but when someone comes forward to make a complaint, there will be someone who will do the same, ”he said.

On November 27, police arrested the suspect following a report filed against him for an alleged rape. He was sent to prison for five days starting on November 27.

The preventive detention was extended for five days yesterday to help in the investigation of the same case.
