PUTRAJAYA: Police arrested 48 people for violating the Recovery Movement Control Order (MCO) on September 3, and 17 of them arrested for not wearing masks.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that 13 commercial operators were also found not to follow standard operating procedures when operating after midnight.

Other infractions include participating in non-social distancing activities and failing to provide customers with log books or QR codes to record their entry.

The task force that verifies SOP compliance visited 58,050 facilities on Thursday (September 3).

This included restaurants (4,955), supermarkets (3,703), and 1,039 government offices.

Ismail Sabri said a total of 22,252 people had returned to Malaysia since the government reintroduced mandatory quarantine at designated centers starting July 24.

“Of these, 66 were sent to the hospital after the smear test came back positive,” he said on Friday (September 4).

To date, 13,021 had been quarantined and allowed to return to their homes.
