KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 47 new positive Covid-19 cases were reported today, of which 45 were local transmissions and two imported cases, said Health Director General Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah. (pix)
He said the 45 local broadcasts comprised 28 Malaysians and 17 foreigners, while the two imported cases involved foreigners from the Maldives (one case in Kuala Lumpur) and Morocco (one case in Selangor).
He said that with today’s 47 new cases, the total cumulative number of positive Covid-19 cases was now 9,915, with 591 active cases.
“So far, nine patients are being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) and four require respiratory assistance.
“Seven patients have recovered, bringing the total cumulative number of recoveries to 9,196 cases,” he said in a statement today.
He said that no fatalities were reported today and that the death toll remains at 128.
At the Benteng Lahad Datu group in Sabah, Dr. Noor Hisham said a total of 4,666 people were tested and 22 tested positive today, bringing the overall count for this group to 403 cases.
“In Tawau, 3,408 people were tested and 315 tested positive, while 88 of the 1,258 tested in Lahad Datu tested positive.
“The 403 cases detected in the cluster involve 383 detainees, two staff members, three staff relatives and detainees, as well as 15 social contacts,” he said.
Dr Noor Hisham said that of the 403 cases in the group, 176 were Malaysians, while 227 were foreigners from the Philippines (152 cases) and Indonesia (75 cases).
Regarding the Tawar Cluster in Kedah, 13 new cases were reported today after the assessment of 18,233 people, including 649 healthcare workers.
Dr Noor Hisham said that all new cases from the Tawar Cluster were detected in Kedah, bringing the total count to 81 cases.
As for the Sungai Cluster, he said that a total of 14,044 people were tested and only one tested positive for Kedah today. -Named
