PETALING JAYA: Police arrested 46 people for violating the Recovery Movement Control Order (MCO) on September 4, and 11 of them were arrested for not wearing face masks.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said 45 of them were handed compounds while one person was in pre-trial detention.
“Violations included organizing a private party (15), failing to provide registration facilities for customers (eight), not wearing face masks (11), venues that operated beyond the stipulated hours (10), venues that operated without a business license (one) and activities with large crowds and little physical distancing (one), “Ismail said in a statement on Saturday (September 5).
The task force for compliance with standard operating procedures (SOP), led by the police, conducted 55,838 checks on Friday (September 4).
Checks were issued at supermarkets (3,498), restaurants and street vending centers (4,527), factories (898), banks (3,275), and 764 government office buildings, as well as air, water and land transportation terminals.
Meanwhile, Ismail also said that the police and other related agencies had erected a total of 79 barricades under Ops Benteng operations.
“Ops Benteng made 26 arrests, consisting of a tekong (ship captains), 74 illegal aliens and four smugglers.
“The operation also seized five land vehicles,” he added.
On a related matter, he said that between July 24 and September 4, 22,906 people returned to Malaysia and were placed in 70 hotels and four public training institutes (ILA).
“Of the number, 9,038 people are currently in mandatory quarantine, while 66 people have been ordered to be admitted to hospitals for additional treatment.
