456 RMCO offenders sanctioned

KUALA LUMPURPolice issued a total of 456 individuals yesterday for defying prescribed standard operating procedures (SOPs) to curb the spread of Covid-19 during the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).

Chief Minister (Security Group) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pix), in a statement at RMCO today, said that most of them were caught without wearing a face mask, a total of 143 people.

He said that notices were also issued consisting of not exercising social distancing or participating in activities that made physical distancing difficult (137), not providing equipment or registering personal data in the facilities (77) and other infractions (99).

On the current Ops Benteng to curb the entry of illegal immigrants into the country’s borders, Ismail Sabri said that 27 illegal immigrants and two tekong (agents) were arrested and nine vehicles seized.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said that from July 24 to yesterday, 61,612 people had returned to Malaysia and were quarantined in 65 hotels and 19 other facilities, including the Institute of Public Training, as well as public and private educational institutions in the whole country.

“Of that number, a total of 9,312 people are in mandatory quarantine, while 384 people were sent to the hospital for treatment. A total of 51,916 people were discharged and allowed to return to their homes, ”he said.

Regarding public sanitation operations, he said that 42 operations were carried out yesterday, covering 13 states.

Ismail Sabri said that the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Affairs also carried out controls on the supply of 12 types of goods in 686 business premises, including retail outlets (492), wholesalers (167) and manufacturers (27) yesterday.

In general, he was satisfied with the supply of the products in question and said that it was adequate and could meet the needs of the country. -Called
