432 arrested for violating SOP

PETALING JAYA: Police arrested 432 people yesterday for violating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Chief Minister (Defense) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pix) said in a statement today.

The highest number of arrests (08) was for not providing equipment to record client data.

“Other arrests included breach of physical distancing (106), not wearing face masks (96), crossing district or state borders without authorization (51), leaving without a valid reason (42), gambling activities (18), premises open beyond of the hours of operation allowed or without a license (10) and others (one) ”.

Of the total arrests, 414 were compounded and the other 18 were detained.

Ismail Sabri added that yesterday the police carried out 78,831 checks to make sure the SOPs were being adhered to.

“The controls were carried out by 5,214 teams that included 15,175 people. More than 20,000 stores were inspected, including supermarkets, restaurants, street vendors, factories, banks and offices, ”he said.

Transportation hubs such as airports and land and water transportation stations also faced controls.

In addition to that, a total of 27 illegal immigrants were detained while yesterday two boats and a land vehicle were confiscated.

The police, along with the army and border control officers, also implemented a total of 467 roadblocks across the country.
