KUALA LUMPUR: A 41-year-old man was arrested in connection with the murder of a man in front of a store in a public housing project in Cheras.
Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Mohamed Mokhsein Mohamed Zon said the suspect was taken into custody around 8pm on Thursday (October 8) near the crime scene.
“The suspect, a truck driver, has two counts of criminal history related to robbery and criminal intimidation, as well as seven drug-related crimes.
“We are still investigating the motive for the murder,” he said when contacted on Friday.
The suspect has been in pretrial detention until October 15, it added.
It was previously reported that a 52-year-old man was found murdered in front of a store at a public housing project in Cheras on Thursday.
The victim, who was found face down in front of the store, is believed to have been stabbed.
“Witnesses claimed that the victim had been arguing with another man prior to the incident.
“The suspect fled the scene shortly after,” said ACP Mohamed Mokhsein.
Police are still investigating the motive for the attack, he added.
“We will call other witnesses to help with the investigation,” he said.
