40 producers in the creative industry get 13.9 million ringgit from Finas

Some 40 production companies have received offer letters for funds totaling RM13,927 thousand from the Digital Content Fund (DKD) of the National Film Development Corporation (Finas) under the Creative Industry Immediate Economic Action Plan ( Pelaksana).

Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah said that DKD aims to help strengthen the creative industry affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said his goal was to regenerate the economy of the country’s creative industry through cooperation with the private sector, involving local television and broadcasting stations, and increasing ownership of copyrighted content among local publishers for the future profit generation.

“I hope that all DKD recipients can produce quality creative work and revitalize this industry in accordance with our common goal of moving onto the international stage,” he said during an online ceremony for the delivery of the Pelaksana DKD offer letters today. ( November 24).

Also present were the president of Finas, Zakaria Abdul Hamid, and its CEO, Dr. Ahmad Idham Ahmad Nadzri.

Saifuddin said that the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (KKMM) through Finas had always supported and assisted industry players, particularly through the Pelaksana initiative, to ensure that the creative industry continues to grow despite being affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

As such, he said that all industry players should seize the opportunity provided to further develop the country’s film industry.

Meanwhile, Saifuddin hopes that through the Twelfth Malaysia Plan (12MP) to be launched next year, the government will allocate RM550,000 for DKD to boost the creative industry including movies, music and animation. – Bernama
