A total of 470 people were fined and 32 arrested yesterday for failing to adhere to the SOPs.

PETALING JAYA: Chief Security Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob says 502 people were arrested yesterday by police for crimes related to the conditional movement control order (CMCO), including 40 for traveling between districts and states.

A total of 470 of them were fined while the rest were arrested.

Most of them were sanctioned for not registering customers’ personal data when entering stores (55), not wearing masks (99), not practicing physical distancing (204) and operating business premises beyond the allowed hours ( 63).

Ismail said 40 people were fined for traveling between districts and states under CMCO without permission.

Authorities also detained 38 undocumented immigrants and two smugglers yesterday as part of Ops Benteng’s ongoing campaign. They also seized eight land vehicles.

“The government will crack down on anyone who tries to enter the country illegally and enforcement agencies will continue to strengthen our border control,” he said in a statement today.
