KUALA LUMPUR: A four-week Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) will be implemented in all the states of the peninsula except Pahang, Perlis and Kelantan from November 9 to December 6 due to the increase in Covid-19 cases, said the Minister Principal (Security Group) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said this was decided at a special meeting of the National Security Council (MKN) where a report from the Ministry of Health (MOH) was presented on the latest Covid-19 situation in the country.
“The application of this CMCO will allow the Ministry of Health to carry out specific examinations and reduce movements in the community, in addition to slowing the spread of Covid-19 in these states,” he said today at a press conference on the Movement Control Order Recovery (RMCO) here. .
Ismail Sabri said this means that the CMCO in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Selangor and Sabah, which will end on November 9, will also be rolled out alongside the implementation of the CMCO in seven other states on the peninsula.
He said the standard operating procedure (SOP) for CMCO remains the same as previously announced, which includes a ban on interdistrict and interstate travel except in emergencies conducted with permission from the police.
He said that under the CMCO, all schools, higher education institutions, vocational training institutes, preschools and tahfiz centers will be closed, while religious activities in mosques and surau will be determined by state religious authorities.
“All social and cultural activities, including in entertainment centers and nightclubs, are also not allowed, but economic activities can function as usual according to the established SOP,” he said.
On Kelantan, Pahang and Perlis, he said that travel between these states and those of the CMCO would not be allowed.
“For example, people in Kedah who are under CMCO cannot travel to Perlis which is green or vice versa, except with permission from the police. We want to protect Perlis from Kedah individuals, as they could carry the virus.
“The same goes for the trips between Pahang and Terengganu, and Pahang and Kuala Lumpur; it’s not allowed, ”he said.
However, interdistrict travel in Pahang, Kelantan and Perlis are allowed as they are under the RMCO.
Ismail Sabri said that although Sarawak is still under the RMCO, travel from the mainland, Sabah and Labuan to Sarawak, as well as from Sarawak to the states under the CMCO is not allowed.
However, travel between districts within Sarawak is allowed, except in the Kuching district, which has registered a high number of Covid-19 cases, he said. -Called
