317 new cases of Covid-19, another record for the second day in a row

COVID-19 | 317 new cases of Covid-19 were registered in the country during the last 24 hours, all of which were local infections.

This is the second day in a row that the number of new registered infections has been the highest in the country to date.

Currently, there are 1,735 active cases of Covid-19 across the country.

A total of 37 of the new cases were related to those returning from Sabah.

The director general of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah, said there was also one new death and three new groups of infections.

Of the new patients, 303 were Malaysians and 14 were non-citizens.

Sabah registered 155 new cases, including 100 infections detected by detecting patients with symptoms and four community infections.

Of the bunches in Sabah, Storks had 35 new cases, Benteng LD, 10 cases, Noisy, three cases, Joo hwa, two cases and Throw it baby, A case.

The only new recorded death was also in Sabah. The deceased was a 57-year-old man who showed symptoms such as cough and fever for the first time since September 10.

The deceased was only taken to a hospital on September 24 after having difficulty breathing and four days later he was confirmed positive for Covid-19.

He died last night at 11:44 p.m.

In the meantime, Kedah recorded the second highest number of cases with 102 new infections, including two patients who returned from Sabah.

There were 97 cases in the state of wall group of prisons and one of the Bah Ketil cluster.

There is also the new Bah Moons group in Kedah that has four patients, of which two were discovered today.

The index patient in the Bah Lunas group was a 35-year-old man who returned from Sabah. Three others were close contacts.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health has also identified another new group of previous infections, called Bah Rose. The group has seven patients in Kedah and one in Penang.

The index patient in the Bah Rose group is a 48-year-old man who also returned from Sabah. He tested positive on September 29.

Selangor has 32 new cases including 15 people who returned from Sabah, 12 cases from the Jalan meru cluster, and three of the new Signs cluster.

The Jelok group has four patients in total, and the index case was a 27-year-old man who tested positive on October 1 after being tested for symptoms.

Four new cases were also registered in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya (two), Negeri Sembilan (one), Johor (4) Terengganu (9), Kelantan (two), Penang (3) and three cases in Sarawak.

In total, 29 patients are in intensive care units, four of whom require ventilators.

There were also 121 patients who recovered in the last 24 hours.
