COVID-19 | The Health Ministry said it expects the number of new reported Covid-19 cases to “stabilize” within two weeks, amid the number of new infections reaching its lowest point in 11 days.

Today, the Ministry of Health reported 3,048 new cases.

Chief Health Officer Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said the R-nada (R0) was 1.06, down from a high of 1.2.

“Maybe tomorrow it will be less than 1.06. We expect a number less than 1. Hopefully, in two weeks, we will avoid a spike and see stability,” he told reporters in a briefing today.

Main indicators:

  • Active cases: 41,677 ↓ (607 less than the previous day)
  • ICU patients: 265 ↓ (45 less than the previous day)
  • Intubated patients: 102 ↓ (1 less than the previous day)
  • Deaths: 11

The Klang Valley reported the most new cases (44.7 percent) followed by Johor (17.4 percent) and Sabah (11.4 percent).

In Selangor, one in seven new Covid-19 cases were among those with symptoms but not linked to existing groups. People with symptoms of Covid-19 are more likely to spread the virus compared to those who are asymptomatic.
