301 arrested for disobeying standard operating procedures

PETALING JAYA: A total of 301 people were arrested for violating standard operating procedures (SOPs), of which 298 were issued compounds and three were detained.

Among the violations were not wearing face masks (77), not respecting social distancing (149) and being in places of entertainment (two), said Chief Minister (Defense) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pix).

A total of 2,506 workforce teams with 11,811 people carried out checks in 2,799 supermarkets, 4,447 restaurants, 1,122 factories, 1,651 street vendors, 589 government offices, 1,044 land terminals, 237 water terminals and 125 air terminals.

In “Ops Benteng,” Ismail Sabri said that 31 undocumented people and two suspected smugglers were arrested, adding that a total of 107 road blocks were made across the country and six ground vehicles were seized.

On the mandatory quarantine, he said that a total of 94,967 people had returned to Malaysia from July 30 to December 30.

Of that number, 7,362 people are currently in quarantine, while 540 have been sent to hospital for treatment.

A total of 87,065 people have been registered.

Those who had returned to Malaysia via KLIA and klia2 had traveled from 36 countries, including the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, and the United Arab Emirates.
