PUTRAJAYA: Police arrested 30 people for not wearing face masks in public as required by Covid-19’s standard operating procedure (SOP).
In a statement, Chief Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the 30 were among the 89 people detained by the authorities on Thursday (October 1).
“The police arrested 89 people for not adhering to the rules of the recovery motion control order (MCO).
“Of that total, 12 were detained in preventive detention, while another 77 received compounds.
“Among the MCO recovery crimes that were committed were not wearing face masks (30 people), not complying with the rules of physical distancing (29), not providing registration facilities for clients (14), involved in pub activities or nightclub (five) and premises that operate without a license (one), “he said, in the government’s daily statement on compliance with the recovery MCO on Friday (October 2).
On Thursday, 12,753 officials from the government task force conducted a total of 53,691 verifications on compliance with the SOPs.
The locations monitored included supermarkets, restaurants, street vendors, factories, banks, government offices, and public transport terminals.
Ismail said that 22 undocumented immigrants and two “tekongs” (ship captains) were arrested in the joint operation Ops Benteng involving the police, Malaysian Border Security and the Armed Forces, who lifted 84 roadblocks across the country. during operations.
Ops Benteng was created to control the country’s borders against illegal entry, which at the same time also prevents the transmission of Covid-19 from abroad.
Ismail also said that between July 24 and October 1, a total of 38,843 people entered the country through international entry points.
Currently, 8,648 people are under mandatory quarantine orders, while another 30,089 have already been discharged.
Another 106 people were sent to hospitals for treatment.
People in quarantine are located in 65 hotels, as well as 10 public training institutions, as well as private institutions of higher education throughout the country.
Ismail also said that the Ministry of Housing and Local Government had conducted 16 Covid-19 sanitation exercises in various states: Sabah (five operations), Penang (four), Perlis (four), Terengganu (one), Sarawak (one) and Melaka (one). ) Thursday.
