SHAH ALAM: Selangor police seek to prosecute 29 members of a secret society for organized crime.

All 29 were arrested in a series of raids following a shooting outside a high school in Banting on September 29.

The suspects are believed to be part of a secret society known as the Blackjack gang.

Head of CID of Selangor, Com. Senior Assistant Datuk Fadzil Ahmat (Photo) said after the incident, the Selangor CID and Bukit Aman had carried out a massive sting operation.

“We arrested 19 suspects believed to be related to gangster activities and organized crime.

“Further investigations were carried out to take action against the group under the Security Offenses (Special Measures) Act (Sosma),” it said in a statement on Thursday (November 5).

Police then arrested another 10 suspects, bringing the total arrests to 29, he said.

“The investigative documents were forwarded to the Attorney General’s Office on October 27 for further evaluation and study to prosecute the suspects for their involvement in organized crime.

“The successful prosecution of these suspects is expected to curb and eradicate gangster activities in Banting, as well as in the state,” he said.

Before the investigation, it was reported that two men in a car were shot by gunmen outside a high school in Banting.

The victims, in an effort to escape, collided with a group of students and several other cars during the 12:45 pm incident on September 25.

However, the suspects followed the victims and fired multiple shots at the car, which was being driven by a bodyguard.

The victims were beaten on the chest and other parts of the body and were rushed to Banting Hospital for treatment.

Police believe the motive for the attack was a clash between two groups.
