GEORGE TOWN: Police arrested two people and seized RM25.87 million worth of drugs at Nibong Tebal Industrial Park in a three-day operation, says Penang Police Chief.

Comm Datuk Sahabudin Abd Manan said that a team of police officers and staff from the State Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID), in collaboration with South Seberang Prai NCID and the Nibong Tebal Police Station, carried out the operation that started from the 7 pm on December 21 until 11 pm on December 23. .

He said that during the raids, police seized drugs believed to be syabu, ecstasy pills, ketamine and heroin.

This is the biggest loot so far this year by the state police, he added.

“In the first raid, a 37-year-old suspect was arrested around 7 pm on December 21 in the city of Nibong Tebal while driving a car and had stopped in a lane located along the store premises.

“During the arrest, the police seized 100 packages of drugs believed to be syabu worth RM4.68 thousand,” he told a news conference at the state police headquarters on Saturday (December 26).

Comm Sahabudin said that following questioning of the suspect, police raided a nearby location, raiding a store used to store drugs.

In this raid, the police found what is believed to be syabu, ecstasy, heroin and ketamine worth RM21.19 thousand.

He added that the police detained the second suspect in Nibong Tebal but found no drugs on him.

The first suspect, who is unemployed, tested positive for amphetamine, methamphetamine and benzo, and has a history of three drug-related crimes.

The second suspect, 43, works as an online marketer, tested negative and has no prior record.

The suspects were detained for seven days starting on December 23.

The case is investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act of 1952.
