PETALING JAYA: The Ministry of Health reported 24 new Covid-19 infections today, bringing the total number of cases to 9,583.
Of the 24 new cases, 18 are local transmissions and six are imported.
No deaths were recorded, and the death toll stood at 128.
Seven patients were discharged in the last 24 hours, with a total of 9,143 recoveries to date.
In a statement today, Chief Health Officer Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said that most of today’s local cases were related to the Sungai group in Kedah, where 13 new cases were reported.
Kedah also registered three other positive cases today.
Meanwhile, Benteng’s group in Sabah accumulated the other two new cases today.
The Benteng cluster registered 62 new cases yesterday.
There were 100 new cases in the country yesterday, the first time that the number of daily positive cases reached triple digits since June 4, when Malaysia recorded 277 new cases.
There are a total of 39 positive cases in Sungai’s group.
The Telaga and Tawar conglomerates (also in Kedah) each registered one new case today, with a total of 11 and 79 positive cases respectively.
Meanwhile, Benteng’s group has 130 positive cases: 43 in Tawau and 87 in Lahad Datu.
There are currently 312 active cases in the country, seven of which are being treated in intensive care units and four require respiratory assistance.
Today there were no new deaths, and the country’s death toll stood at 128, or 1.36% of all cases.
